Sunday Service - “Alive & Empowered: From Resurrection to Renewal” Part 6
In part six of “Alive & Empowered: From Resurrection to Renewal,” titled “Empowered for Service: Your Spiritual Gifts,” Pastor Darcey Stewart Jr. highlights that every believer has a part in building up the body of Christ. The sermon references 1 Corinthians 12:4-14 and Ephesians 4:11-16.
God gives each of us unique gifts to contribute to the community of faith. As 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 explains, "Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal."
As we reflect on our spiritual gifts, it’s vital to understand that each gift is designed to edify the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-16 helps us understand why. "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-12. Church is not just a thing you attend. It is an organism you become a part of. Through this, we help lead people from the kingdom of darkness into God’s marvelous light.
Thank you, Pastor Stewart, for this powerful word from God. It reminds us that being alive and empowered means using our gifts to build up the body of Christ and to grow together in the unity of faith.
