“Make Room”
The Advent season is a time when the church reflects on the coming of Christ and the appearance of Jesus Christ. Through his birth in Bethlehem, Jesus Christ came from glory, which means God was manifested in the flesh.
When we remember the story of Joseph and Mary arriving at Bethlehem, we are reminded that there was no room for them in the inn to birth our savior Jesus Christ. Jesus knows how it feels when the world does not “Make Room” for your gifts, talents, and abilities.
Senior Pastor Travis Tullis encourages us through scriptures Luke 2:1-7, that we must make room for God’s gift of Jesus Christ.
When you have a known gift, it can shine through Jesus Christ for God’s glory. Proverbs 18:16 says “A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” During the time of Jesus's birth, kings from other nations came to give their gifts to the newborn King. Yet, despite this marvelous gift to the world, it seems that many people continue to reject Jesus even today.
Although the world did not make room for Jesus, Christ still laid down His life to make room for everybody in His Kingdom. Many of us have been broken, despised, and rejected but Jesus can identify with us because He was rejected from the beginning of His birth. By God’s love, He gave his only begotten Son to us as a gift of grace; this is why we must make room for the King of all Kings.
Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for leading us to go forward and higher together by knowing that we must make room for the greatest gift ever given to us, which is Jesus Christ, the name above all names.
