Sunday Service - "Stop Denying What’s Alive in You"
Senior Pastor Travis Tullis delivers a powerful challenge in “Stop Denying What’s Alive in You”: If Christ is alive in me, why do I sometimes live as though He is not? 2 Timothy 3:5 warns against having a form of godliness while denying its power. We can profess faith yet live as though God's presence does not influence our decisions, attitudes, or actions.
According to 1 Kings 19:1–9, Elijah witnessed God's extraordinary power, yet fear and exhaustion drove him into isolation. God compassionately provided rest and nourishment before Elijah entered the cave. There, Elijah's discouragement revealed how his circumstances had overshadowed his confidence in God's faithfulness. The cave became a place where God confronted Elijah's limited perspective, not a place where His purpose ended.
In 1 Kings 19:18, God corrects Elijah’s belief that he is alone by revealing that He has preserved seven thousand faithful servants. Elijah’s restoration brought renewed strength, a clearer perspective, and fresh purpose. Romans 8:11 applies this same truth to believers today: the Spirit who raised Christ lives in us, giving life and strength beyond our weakness. Colossians 1:26–27 likewise proclaims Christ in us as the hope of glory. Therefore, our hope rests in His presence, not in our circumstances.
Furthermore, 2 Corinthians 5:14–21 teaches that Christ's love compels us, as new creations, to serve as ambassadors of reconciliation. Elijah's renewed assignment reminds us that restoration moves us beyond discouragement toward faithful service and love.
Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for encouraging us to move forward and higher together as fruitful image bearers, with God renewing our joy and restoring our hope.
