Sunday Worship - "Adapting to the Adoption"
Proverbs 31:1-3 says, 'The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him. What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows? Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.'
This prophecy, passed down from Lemuel's mother, holds wisdom and direction for everyone in the Heavenly Father's Kingdom.
Pastor Yevette Russell encouraged us to remember that a mother's love is the closest thing to the image of how God loves us as children. We can now learn how to start 'Adapting to the Adoption', a concept that means accepting and embracing the love of Jesus Christ as our adoptive parent. The focus scriptures are Ephesians 1:3-9, Proverbs 31:1-3, and Ruth 1:15-16.
A mother's love, as seen in the story of Ruth, is not just about individual relationships, but also about the community it creates. 'And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.' Ruth 1:16. These scriptures remind us how we can be adopted through love and faith when walking with the Lord, within a supportive community. Ruth could see the spirit of God’s fruits in her mother-in-law, which made doors open for many generations.
Thank you, Pastor Russell, for giving us this word from the Lord. It will allow us to move Forward & Higher... Together by reminding us that a mother's love is what we need to continue as adopted children of our heavenly father.
