"Cakes and Jerseys"
Cakes have many different flavors, jerseys have several unique styles, and Christians have various denominations. Elder Dr. Alex Stephens clarifies in Matthew 12:22-30 that “Cakes and Jerseys” can be diverse just like Christians; however, a real cake, a real jersey, and real Christians are the only thing that matters when we do not major in the minors.
When we focus on the minor situations, we miss the big things in life. What God cares about are the major things that should not be minor to us. Feeding the poor, loving one another, and acknowledging God is what matters to our Heavenly Father. Knowing that we are on the same team no matter the style of our jersey, knowing that cakes and cookies are different but knowing that we serve the same God is what is important. No matter how big or small we think our distinctive personalities matter it is God who brings our differences together. Whether we praise loudly, praise only in our hearts, praise with dressed-up clothes or casual clothes on, as long as we praise God for his marvelous gift of Jesus Christ.
Thank you, Elder Dr. Stephens, for leading us to go forward and higher together by allowing us to know that real cakes, real jerseys, and genuine Christians are what bring people to the winning team and that is the team lead by Jesus Christ.
