Sunday Service - “Fruitful Through the Cross” Part 2
Before experiencing growth from the seeds of fruitfulness that God has planted, our souls must first undergo restoration. In the second message of the “Fruitful Through the Cross” series, titled “Restored for Fruitfulness,” Senior Pastor Travis Tullis reminds us that restoration precedes fruitfulness. Key scriptures include Psalm 51:1-13, John 21:15-17, and Romans 12:2.
In Psalm 51, David passionately asked God to renew his spirit, saying, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” (Psalm 51:12). God's restoration has a purpose—it enables us to help others find freedom through His word. For instance, although Peter denied Jesus three times, Jesus restored him three times, leading Peter to become one of Christ’s apostles who shared the gospel to the world.
Every day, we must commit to Christ to continue restoring us through a soul-transforming process. This process consists of illumination, conviction, surrender, repatterning, and integration. Nevertheless, negative emotions such as bitterness, shame, disappointment, fear, and unforgiveness can hinder the restoration of our soul, mind, will, and emotions, contaminating the soil needed for fruitful seeds to grow.
Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for leading us forward and higher together and for reminding us that we are called to be fruitful image bearers and fulfill God’s original design. Through the cross, by denying ourselves and learning to surrender to His will, we become people who bare lasting fruit in His Kingdom Community.
