Sunday Service - "A Mind to Build" Part 4

In part four of “A Mind to Build," titled “Where Your Treasure Is,” Pastor Derrek Kegler emphasizes that Kingdom Citizenship requires continual investment in God’s Kingdom. The message is supported by Colossians 1:13-18, Colossians 3:1-2, Matthew 6:19, 1 John 2:15-17, 1 Corinthians 3:11-15, and 1 Corinthians 6:20 with focus scriptures Haggai 1:1-11 and Matthew 6:33.

The prophet Haggai challenged God's people because they had become consumed with building their own houses while neglecting the house of the Lord (Haggai 1:1–11). Their misplaced priorities left them empty despite their hard work. Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Seeking God's Kingdom first means setting our affections on all things above and not on earthly treasure. Haggai 1:1–11 and Matthew 6:33 show that our priorities shape the direction of our hearts. Before God asks for our resources, He seeks our relationship. When we build a relationship with Jesus by seeking Him first, we naturally treasure what matters to Him—drawing people into the ministry of reconciliation with God.

Thank you, Pastor Kegler, for giving us this powerful word from God. This will allow us to go forward and higher together and will remind us that we are called to be fruitful image bearers. We can now understand how to develop a mind to build as we become people who bare lasting fruit in God’s Kingdom community.
