"Gifted to Build" Part 1

"Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all." 1 Corinthians 12:4-6.

Senior Pastor Travis Tullis encourages us to understand through scriptures Ephesians 4:1-14, Matthew 5:44-46, Mark 4:26-29, Romans 8:29, and 2 Corinthians 5:17, that our spiritual gifts are designed to actively build God's kingdom here on earth.

When discovering our spiritual gifts, it's essential to understand the difference between earthly talents—those that stem from genetics and personal traits—and God's gifts, which are meant to uplift one another in the name of Jesus Christ. For instance, Mother Arlene Rice Turner, one of the founders of Priest Lake Community Baptist Church, and Joe McEwen, Chairman of PLCBC's Usher Board, both used their spiritual gifts to continue building on the foundation of Jesus Christ while they were on this earth. Mother Turner contributed to the building of two churches in the Nashville/Antioch area, and Bro. McEwen served as the PLCBC usher board chairman for several years.

These faithful servants of God made it possible for people to gather in the name of Jesus Christ by simply using the gifts given to them by God. They have left a legacy of love and service by using their divine gifts of shepherding, discernment, evangelism, teaching, exhortation, and serving in the churches that God had planted them.

Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for leading us forward and higher by reminding us that God is creating us to become builders of His kingdom on this earth. This means each of us, with our unique spiritual gifts, has the potential to make a significant impact on spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to know our purpose in life just like our beloved Bro. McEwen and Mother Turner.
