Sunday Service - “The Divine Paradox - The Fear and Love of God”
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8). Knowing God enables us to love as He loves, unconditionally.
In our ongoing series, “The Divine Paradox: The Fear and Love of God,” Senior Pastor Travis Tullis explains how both fear and love are essential elements that work together for a healthy relationship with God. The focus scriptures are Isaiah 6:1-7, 1 John 4:7-13, 2 Corinthians 7:10, and Romans 2:4.
True love for God begins with a reverent fear—an awe that recognizes His majesty and our dependence. As a result, that fear transforms into love as we realize God’s majesty, goodness, and power. This is not a fear that pushes us away, but one that humbles us into surrender and invites us into intimacy with Him. Isaiah 6:1-7 demonstrates this great fear of God that brings us closer to Him. During his encounter with God, the prophet Isaiah is so overwhelmed with the holiness of God that he comes to confession and repentance, which draws him closer to God.
Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for leading us forward and higher together, and for encouraging us to understand we must have a healthy balance of fear and love for our Heavenly Father, so that we may flourish and fulfill our calling on this side of eternity.
